When new keys are not enough: changing the lock for your business
There is an important difference between cutting a fresh key and changing the actual lock, and for a business it usually matters a great deal. If keys have been lost, a disgruntled employee has left, or a set has gone missing somewhere between the premises and home, cutting more copies does nothing to stop the old keys working. The only way to regain genuine control is a commercial lock change, where we replace the cylinder or lock so every key that existed before stops opening the door.
On a uPVC or composite door, which is common on modern shopfronts and office entrances around Forest Gate, this usually means swapping the euro cylinder. On a timber door with a mortice deadlock, it means replacing the lock itself. Both approaches give you a brand-new, known set of keys and let you decide exactly who gets one. We can also match several cylinders to a single key so a manager holds one key for the front, back and stockroom while cleaners or part-time staff get access to only what they need.
If you have just taken over a lease, that first lock change is one of the smartest things you can do, because you have no way of knowing how many keys a previous tenant handed out.
